The Three Little Pigs Part 2

Okay, full disclosure, I wrote this little “sequel” to the three little pigs as part of a homework assignment for a Coursera course and in all honesty, I really enjoyed it. The course was called the craft of character and I would encourage all of you guys to check it out. The objective was to add a new character to a classical story and to write it in a way that it shifts the entire atmosphere of the story and this is what I wrote, enjoy!!

My story Is the 3 little pigs and I would like to add a character who is a hunter his name is Lars Müller; Lars is the owner of the “big bad wolf” and the wolf simply helps him on his hunts to provide for the Müller family. I want to add this character to add a gray area in the sense of who is right and who is wrong, and to convey that no story can have one clear good or one clear bad character.

TW: gore

The background to the scene:

Lars is running around frantically looking for his poor lost wolf, the Wolf usually leaves with lars on his hunt, he is trusted to be left unsupervised as on his hunts the wolf often strolls off and returns with a hen, a sheep or some other sort of meat that lars can either fed his family with or sell to earn money, however this afternoon the wolf didn’t return

As Lars is looking around this brick house he notices a certain smell coming from a trash can near it, a putrid disgusting and yet familiar scent, he runs over and sees his loyal best friends dead body, his skin blistered by the boiling hot water and his eyes popped and his flesh already begging to rot, the sight bought a violent vomit to Lars’ gullet, the sound alerted the 3 pigs inside who come outside and ask him what he’s doing, they say frantically, “Hey you old bastard, don’t puke on our walls!” the old man looks up and looks back at the wolf’s carcass and begins crying, the pigs look at each other and then the youngest pipes up saying, “Don’t tell me you feel sorry for that overgrown rat”, the middle pig then says, “he tried to kill us!” Lars looks up at the pigs and his blood is boiling, the rage in his eyes pierces the pigs who now sense a much more formidable danger than that of a loyal hunt dog, they feel the wrath of a hunter, The hunter quickly picks up his rifle and without wasting time in parlaying words and he shoots the youngest pig right between the eyes and trips into a frantic rampage, the other 2 pigs run in the house and the hunter yells, “LET ME IN YOU FILTHY PIGS” and the pigs reply with their snouts pressed against the door in a horrified tone, “not by the hairs of our chinny chin chi…”- BANG the second shot through the door blew the middle pigs face clean off, the last one says, “WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING?” as Lars makes his way in the house with bloodshot eyes and a finger on the trigger, “WE RID THE WORLD OF A HORRID WOLF AND THIS THE REWAR..” BANG again, the last pig falls down to the floor and is dragged out by Lars. The Blood of the 3 pigs was getting mixed in the dirt all afternoon as Lars was burying his poor faithful wolf, who followed his master's command till his last gasping breath.

And well, that's that, the murderous sociopathic pigs meet a vengeful end and I get left with a surprisingly coherent little sliver of literature. Obviously this isn't some profound piece of art that belongs in the Vatican library but it's a very cool exercise to stretch your brain and to just kinda improve creative writing.

To be honest, I always loved the 3 little pigs story, growing up, it was my absolute favourite, and as a fairly normal 7-year old I didn't walk up to my mother and ask "Mother, this story paints an idealistic and unrealistic world where the duality of good and evil isn't explored beyond a superficial level of just calling the wolf big and bad, could we perhaps explore the fates and morals of the pigs as well" (if this was you as a kid, I'm very impressed... ᵃⁿᵈ ˢˡᶦᵍʰᵗˡʸ ᵃᶠʳᵃᶦᵈ )

but as I grew up with my teen angst fueled by puberty and just a general interest in storytelling, it's very fun to explore and challenge the belief of simplicity in morals.

I hope you guys liked my rendition and feel free to add to the thing in the comments if you have a cool idea. Cheers, have a great day.

:)
